More Twins!!!! Please help me name her!


Garnet had twins too!!!!!  A boy and a girl and the girl was born first and is bigger, just like with Topaz's kids.  So funny how it works out like that.  The girl is the beautiful red one which is super exciting because the reds are my mom's favorite color.  I've been hoping we would have a red one for that reason.  I know color isn't important, but if it makes my mom happy (she likes to admire them from afar) it makes me happy.  She always jokes that she can't tell them apart or remember all of their names, but this red girl will be easy to spot in a crowd of Boers hehe.  Speaking of names... we're having trouble deciding.  Check out our choices at the bottom of the post and please help me decide!  Here are the rest of the pictures.  Sorry they are bad cell phone pictures.  I will have to get the camera out eventually...

These guys went straight to nursing!

She has a patch of white on her forehead, on her belly and on some of her feet.

Okay below are a couple of pictures of the little girl in the sunshine so you can see what her color really looks like.  I know you aren't supposed to take them away from their mom on the first day, but I had to run her inside for my mom to see (she hurt her knee and can't walk to the barn).  I took her right back to Garnet and they have bonded and are all doing great.

 You can see the white on her feet too.

Okay here are the name options.  We all have different favorites, but I'm not going to say which is which so I don't influence you guys.  These are all gems to stick with our theme.  Coming up with gem names is more difficult than I thought so we are going to change up the theme each year.  I can't wait to name next year's kids.... it is going to be a surprise though.

Tourmaline (Tori for short)
Alexandrite (Alex or Lexi for short)
Sapphire
Larimar (Lora or Lari for short) Lari would be pronounced like Lori or Laurie

So which name do you like?  I'm calling her Red right now so PLEASE help me name her before that sticks.....

P.S. She actually had them on Thursday.  The male weighed 6.8 pounds and the girl weighed 7.6 pounds.  They are quite a bit bigger than Topaz's kids were at birth (6 and 6.1 pounds).

Pregnant Does

 My Amethyst is SO adorable!! These pictures were taken on the 14th of January.  I just haven't had time to post them until now.  I'm posting these so that around mid January we can compare pictures to show you how much bigger they have gotten as they get closer to their due dates. Does due in February are... Coral.  This picture does not do her justice.  She is HUGE! She was being skittish because I was using my phone camera with no zoom instead of the real camera so I didn't get any other pictures of her, so here is an old one from the beginning of January. She is enormous.  I have my fingers crossed that she has twins this time.  I don't remember her being this big with Amethyst.  She's only ever had single births as far as we know, so I'm really hoping for twins.  Having singles can be hereditary and I'm hoping Amethyst doesn't take after her mom on that.  Single births are not ideal because you spend the same amount of money to feed...

Cats & Dove Update

 OrangeJello and Emerald eating breakfast together. The cats and the rock dove are the hardest critters to get pictures of, but I haven't posted about them in a while so I thought I would try to get some for you.  The cats are easiest during breakfast because they are still.  They are always either twirling around my legs (which is when I call them my rainbow of kitties because they are all different, pretty colors) or running around at mach speed (well not lazy OrangeJello, but it's true for the other three).  Pharaoh muscles his way in to the food bowl...  .... but Shadow always patiently waits her turn. The dove, who still doesn't have a name, gets free range on the screened in porch.  The poop is annoying to deal with, but it can be cleaned up and it's worth it watching her fly around and stretch her wings.  She is super happy outside of her cage.  She now coexists with the squirrel, but we don't leave them alone unsupervised.  They still...

New car!!!

After ten years I finally had to say goodbye to my fifteen year old Rodeo!  I'd been driving this car since my early twenties.  In fact it was only the third car I'd ever had.  My first car was an 80 something Chevy Celebrity which I only had for a year or so and my second car was an old, beat up crappy Pontiac Grand Am that I had for around four years.  I kept it after I got the Rodeo and hubby drove it for a while before he traded it in for the HHR he has now. So I'd been driving the Rodeo for ten years.  It never bothered me how outdated it was.  Heck it had a cassette player that didn't even work the entire time I owned it!!  The main thing that bothered me was the blower motor was going out so even though the heat/air worked it didn't blow air unless I kicked the motor under the dash on the passenger side which didn't always work, so that meant lots of trips to work shivering.  We got a new blower motor, but didn't have time to replace it....
