Goat Shelter


Hubby built a cute shelter for the doelings out of pallets and tin.  They will eventually have a nice barn, but even then this will probably stay because they already love playing on it.  He designed it specifically to provide shelter and a play platform.  He sat it on top of some other pallets so they can get off the wet ground.  A lot of people don't know, but goats hate getting wet!


Garnet is so funny.  She stood up on the fence to eat some leaves sticking through, but after she finished eating it she stayed there chewing her cud.  Silly girl!

Sorry the pictures are through the fence.  I took these during a break in the rain.  It's been raining all week, every day.  Heck it's been raining for months.  It's so weird!!!  Normally at this time of year we're on month two of no rain at all.  One of my favorite things about summer has always been the lack of mud and rain....... no such luck this year.  I'll get better pictures sometime when it's not raining.

Jackal Puppy Pictures

Does anyone remember how freaking adorable Jackal was as a puppy???  Soaked from playing in his pool.  He loved Frisbee!  OMG soaked Jackal puppy straight out of the bath!!  He LOVED his pool!  He loves going fishing with us.  Adorable just isn't a strong enough word!!  Those ears!  Sleeping on hubby's chest.  Catching toads out of the pool the ducks made nasty lol.  Spoiled rotten!  Sitting by the wood stove to stay warm.  Seriously spoiled!!    If I was on the couch he was piled up on, next to or behind me (like above).    Rotten and he knows it.  Just because I can't get enough below are some of my favorite pictures of Jackal over the years.  I was cleaning my horse tack and he wouldn't move... so cute!  That was a fun walk down memory lane.  I need to get some current pictures of him.  I've been so bad about not taking pictures lately...

Pregnant Does

 My Amethyst is SO adorable!! These pictures were taken on the 14th of January.  I just haven't had time to post them until now.  I'm posting these so that around mid January we can compare pictures to show you how much bigger they have gotten as they get closer to their due dates. Does due in February are... Coral.  This picture does not do her justice.  She is HUGE! She was being skittish because I was using my phone camera with no zoom instead of the real camera so I didn't get any other pictures of her, so here is an old one from the beginning of January. She is enormous.  I have my fingers crossed that she has twins this time.  I don't remember her being this big with Amethyst.  She's only ever had single births as far as we know, so I'm really hoping for twins.  Having singles can be hereditary and I'm hoping Amethyst doesn't take after her mom on that.  Single births are not ideal because you spend the same amount of money to feed...

Garden Update

 Our first pumpkin from the garden!!! It is 24.6 pounds!  It is a Yellow of Paris pumpkin so it's not supposed to be orange.  Isn't it awesome?? The garden has done so well.  I'm so pleased with it.  I've lost count of everything, but we've gotten at least 38 acorn squash, 12 butternut squash, around 20 spaghetti squash, a bunch of yellow squash, cucumbers and zucchini,  as well as miscellaneous other squash.  We've gotten a tomato, a bunch of okra, two watermelons and four eggplants.  That's only the beginning.  There will be a lot more to come. Check out these pictures. See the acorn squash that was eaten on?  That's from Scuff, our resident box turtle.... Luckily he decided he's not really a fan of them because he hasn't eaten any others, but he LOVES cucumbers.  Did I ever tell you guys the story about Scuff and how he got his name?  I got in my car back in April to head to work.  As I was backing out of my parking spo...
